Become an EF Advisor
So often entrepreneurs with great ideas, great drive, and great ambition lose heart, lose money, or miss opportunities because they do not have access to sound advice. One good meeting can make a difference between a thriving enterprise and closing up shop.
If you are a seasoned business leader and you are willing to share your expertise, Entrepreneurs’ Forum wants to add your voice to the EF network of Advisors.
EF is seeking men and women of business, industry, and government whose experience, expertise and advice will help new and established entrepreneurs overcome challenges and make sound decisions to start, sustain and grow their enterprises. EF Advisors offer their voice and advice that can’t be found in books – the wisdom of experience. Topics cover the big picture – all aspects of a business operation including marketing, finance, legal, HR, product development, financing, growth opportunities and more.
Entrepreneurs throughout Atlantic Canada credit EF Advisory sessions as being instrumental to their business success. The EF approach –a personal advisory session - works because entrepreneurs learn from those who have ‘been there, done that’. EF will match the business expertise of Advisors with those entrepreneurs who need the type of advice the Advisor offers.
EF Advisors say the experience is highly rewarding: it’s a way to ‘give back’, it builds strong relationships with fellow advisors as well as entrepreneurs, and it helps provide Atlantic Canada with the new, innovative businesses critical to developing a strong economy.
The Role of the EF Advisor
Advisors can participate in Advisory sessions 2-3 times a year over dinner, depending on the relevance of expertise and the Advisor’s schedule.
For each session, in addition to being present at what is typically a three-hour business meeting over dinner, the EF Advisor will be expected to:
- Review the entrepreneur’s business materials prior to the business meeting
- Contribute to the session with insight and interest
- Identify ways for the entrepreneur to overcome their business challenges
